SmartXY's K900 Platform Unveiled: The Engine for Tomorrow's AI Camera Glasses
SmartXY has released comprehensive specifications for its K900, an AI camera and open-ear audio platform. This ODM reference design, intended for brands, showcases a lightweight 39-gram build and advanced livestreaming capabilities.
This week, SmartXY unveiled detailed public specifications for its K900 platform, an AI camera and open-ear audio smart glasses solution. Produced in Shenzhen and in mass production since late 2024, the K900 is sold as an Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) reference, targeting brands rather than direct consumers. SmartXY confirmed a customer-specific K900 derivative was central to MediaTek's MWC 2026 'Dimensity AI Omni Experience on Glasses' demonstration.
The platform's reference configuration, built with TR90, weighs approximately 39 grams, with acetate and titanium options available through partners. Dimensions are 154 x 163 x 51 mm. Notably, the K900 lacks an AR display, focusing instead on camera and audio functionality. This design philosophy aligns it more with devices like Ray-Ban Meta than waveguide-based AR glasses such as the RayNeo X3 Pro.
For imaging, the K900 utilizes a Sony IMX258 13-megapixel sensor, capable of 1080p video at 30 frames per second, complete with electronic stabilization and HDR. Audio capabilities include a five-microphone array with adaptive noise reduction, paired with stereo open-ear speakers. A hardware-linked white privacy LED ensures recording is always visible to others, and the platform includes 32 GB of storage and 2 GB of RAM.
Compute power is split: a MediaTek MT6765 chip handles the Android 11 OS, while a Bestechnic BES2700H manages audio and Bluetooth 5.4. Connectivity extends to Wi-Fi 6 on the 2.4 GHz band. The 270 mAh battery offers rated usage of 8 to 10 hours for music playback, 55 minutes of continuous video recording, or 7 to 8 hours for typical mixed use, according to SmartXY. Pogo-pin fast charging can reach 50 percent in 10 minutes and 95 percent in 30 minutes.
The standout feature highlighted in the new documentation is livestreaming. The K900 supports real-time first-person video and audio transmission for applications such as remote assistance, field collaboration, and POV broadcasting. SmartXY specifies that the streaming workflow, service connection, and audience experience are contingent on the partner application, with no specific platform, protocol, resolution, or latency figures provided for the reference configuration.
While MediaTek's public materials for its MWC 2026 demo did not name SmartXY or the K900, SmartXY states the eyewear used was a custom K900 derivative. The company also clarified that the demo should not be seen as a certification or endorsement.
The software stack is described as LLM-agnostic, with core functions like capture, voice, and connectivity handled locally. Assistant workflows integrate through partner applications and mainstream cloud AI services, supporting OTA updates and third-party model loading. SmartXY noted that one unnamed enterprise AI software client developed its own industrial design, mechanical architecture, and charging dock on top of the K900 platform.
Our take: The K900 provides a crucial glimpse into the foundational hardware powering many of today's 'branded' AI glasses. It underscores that much of the innovation and differentiation in the smart eyewear market often lies in software and application layers, built atop robust, commercially available ODM platforms. This trend highlights the increasing commoditization of the hardware itself, pushing competition towards user experience and vertical integrations.
