On August 21, 2026, developer Singular Perception announced that its co-op space roguelike, Sol Protocol, will enter Early Access on September 17. The title is set to debut on Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S headsets. Pre-orders are currently available for $9.99, marking a discount from the $12.99 launch price. A cross-play supported playtest is also scheduled for the end of August.

Sol Protocol immerses up to three players in a fully interactive spaceship environment, where they can interchangeably take on roles such as pilot, gunner, or engineer. The team's mission is to navigate treacherous star systems, engaging in battles and exploring abandoned structures to repair and upgrade their vessel, The Pathfinder. UploadVR notes that the game draws inspiration from titles like the delisted Star Trek: Bridge Crew, FTL: Faster Than Light, and Void Crew.

Our take: While our primary focus remains on AI glasses and spatial computing applications, the continued expansion of high-quality VR gaming like Sol Protocol is crucial for the broader adoption of immersive tech. A robust content library, especially with engaging co-op experiences, drives hardware sales and keeps the user base active. This release underscores the Meta Quest platform's ongoing efforts to diversify its gaming catalog beyond solo experiences.
