Even Realities Adds Tortoiseshell Brown 2 Option to Its G2 Lineup
The camera-free smart glasses maker unveils a lighter tortoiseshell frame finish alongside polarized clips and an eyewear chain.
Announced this week, Even Realities is expanding its optical catalog with the Brown 2, a new tortoiseshell-patterned edition of the Even G2 smart glasses. Alongside the new frame style, the company introduced two dedicated accessories: the Even G2 Clip polarized sunglasses attachment and the Even G2 Chain.
Unlike surface-printed finishes, the tortoiseshell pattern on the Brown 2 runs throughout the entire depth of the material. According to aol.com, each frame undergoes a 20-hour shaping, pressing, tumbling, and polishing regimen, resulting in subtle cosmetic variations that make every pair unique. The new finish also marks the lightest G2 iteration to date, while keeping the platform's core hardware intact: a camera-free, display-first system that projects heads-up teleprompter text, real-time translations, and system notifications directly into the wearer's line of sight.
The push toward heritage eyewear aesthetics is deliberate. As aol.com reports, Even Realities founder and CEO Will Wang stated that for smart glasses to integrate into everyday life, they must primarily look like traditional glasses rather than consumer gadgets, bringing classic craftsmanship into connected eyewear without sacrificing utility.
Our take: Even Realities understands what several legacy consumer electronics brands keep missing. By leaning hard into classic eyewear styling, reducing weight, and refusing to slap outward-facing cameras on the frame, the company makes wearable micro-displays socially invisible. Expanding into timeless patterns like tortoiseshell is a smart move that prioritizes fashion and comfort over flashy surveillance tech.
